With the Kentucky Derby taking place last weekend, it’s interesting to see the names of this year’s talented thoroughbreds, such as Renegade, Further Ado, Emerging Market, So Happy, and Six Speed. Horse owners often choose names based on personal meaning or the animal’s unique personality and attitude.
Did you know that each of us has a financial personality? A financial personality is a set of ingrained behaviors, attitudes, habits, and emotional responses toward money that dictate how an individual saves, spends, invests, and views debt. These behaviors are often rooted in past experiences and shape daily financial decisions. Understanding one’s type—such as a saver, spender, avoider, worrier, or investor—helps improve financial habits and reach long-term goals. I am a bit of a worrier, as money to me represents safety and security.
Would you name your Derby horse Cash Flow King, Equity Rush, or Fortune’s Favor? I might choose Fiscal Panic. 😉
In the spirit of these names, if you are wondering what your own “financial self” is like, I encourage you to take a personality test to find out. Here is a helpful free resource: CLICK HERE FOR MORE
